California Medical Malpractice Law Firm
Pediatric Meningitis
Early in his legal career, founding attorney Richard deSaulles had first-hand experience working with a woman whose child suffered from pediatric menangitis that went undiagnosed despite repeated trips to a local physician. Today, pediatric meningitis is still a leading cause of mortality and other lifelong medical problems for children. An infection to the Central Nervous System, meningitis can cause devastating damage if not identified early and then treated properly. Although many children infected with meningitis exhibit no symptoms, there are some signs of the infection that medical providers can use to assist in diagnosis. These symptoms include high-pitched crying, arching the back, staring, lethargy, loss of appetite and pale, blotchy skin.
Medical providers and pediatricians are trained to diagnose and treat pediatric meningitis, and it is their responsibility to act quickly. When a medical professional fails to perform the necessary tests and does not act in a way that other medical professionals would act with the same information, he or she may be guilty of medical malpractice. The Law Offices of Richard deSaulles may be able to help in such cases. Please feel free to either fill out an online case evaluation or call today to speak to an attorney if you believe that you or your child was not properly diagnosed with and/or treated for pediatric meningitis.
What if I Cannot Afford To Hire An Attorney?
Most of our clients do not have the thousands of dollars needed to retain an attorney and litigate their case. The Law Offices of Richard deSaulles regularly takes cases on a contingency basis. For cases taken on a contingency basis, this means:
- You do not have to pay anything to hire our firm to represent you;
- Our contingency fee is based on a reasonable percentage of the amount we obtain for you;
- We will never settle your case without your authorization; and
- If there is no recovery in your case, you do not owe us a fee.
For those clients who prefer to pay an hourly rate, our firm is happy to discuss such an arrangement. Either way, we will make sure that the terms of the representation are agreed upon before initiating representation.
